Bridal Portrait Fun

More and more of my brides want to do something different for their bridal portrait sessions, in addition to getting the full length, more traditional poses. Sometimes we head downtown, and photograph in the alleys. One of the portraits below was taken in the bathroom of the One World Theatre! You never know where you might find the right combination of place, light, and moment. This blog post is dedicated to those women who went for it!!!

Kids & Weddings

Yesterday I got to meet my bride who is in from NYC, Kate, her mother, Ann, and her wedding planner Tammy Gorral of Sparkling Engagements. It was excellent to meet face to face before the wedding which is this Saturday! Kate & her fiance Adrian love kids in general and love their nieces and nephews in particular. We covered a great deal of ground discussing the wedding and the entire day and reception, and I loved how important it is to Kate to include kids at their wedding and to make sure that they are photographed! I decided to post this image of kids-in-a -post-wedding-reception-state-of-tired-bliss as a harbinger of things to come from the wedding this weekend. I can't wait!

August on the road--3 Destination Weddings in a row!

August has been an incredible month! I started out with flying into Iowa for Kylie & John's engagement session and then photographed John & Bria's gorgeous outdoor wedding in Cedar Rapids, where I had the pleasure of working alongside Quad Cities based photographer Jeff Wros, with my fiance' Jim, assisting us. I'm posting some quick favorites from the wedding below.

Also to come are images from my second August wedding in the Laurentian Mountains, just outside of Montreal. Susi and I had a blast at Laura & Dylan's camp wedding and then ate and walked our way through Montreal!

And now I am writing from Barbados where Heather Mabry (Eclectic Images' incredibly talented owner) & I are having our final girl's night. I am so excited! Heather brought me along with her to photograph a beach wedding on Friday and since then we have been exploring the island and snorkeling with sea turtles. The wedding was stunning and I will never forget taking portraits of Candice & Matt on the beach while the tide roared in, soaking my pants, Candice's dress, and almost taking Heather's shoe out to sea for good! More fun piccies to come...

Our New Associate Photographer!

I am thrilled to officially announce our new JLW associate phototgrapher, Susan Brister, is now accepting weddings for the Spring of 2008 and beyond!

Susi is currently finishing her Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography in beautiful Montreal, Canada, at the prestigious Concordia University. After completing her thesis, including a month long photography fellowship in Vermont, she returns to Austin in March and is excited about immersing herself once again in the world of weddings! Susi has been photographing weddings since 2003 and is not only incredibly talented and visually astute, she is also a joy to be around.

I'll post some of my favorite images from Susi's recent weddings below from the Four Seasons, Barton Creek Country Club, Sun City, Salado, Laguna Gloria and more. Susi and I will also be photographing a wedding together in Montreal this August, in the Laurentian mountains outside of Montreal, and I will definitely be posting images from that trip as well! Look for Susi's full portfolio & bio on the JLW website next month.

I am so honored and excited that Susi is joining JLW! I can't imagine a better fit; both stylisically and personally. Now I just need to make sure that you don't book her for my wedding date! I call first!

New Images!

I've been a very poor blogger! It's time to catch up! There have been many beautiful weddings this Spring and some portrait sessions that have been a blast. I'm posting a few of my favorite images from Amy & Cole's wedding in March. They used beautiful rich oranges and took advantage of the Pitt's stunning property at Lago Vista. The wedding was all about family and close friends; both sets of parents and siblings surrounded the couple as they made their vows, and afterwards everyone sat down to an elegant plated dinner, under a beautifully lit tent. The dancing was fairly raucous--complete with break dancing! The wedding ended, after Amy & Cole's exit, to Mr. and Mrs. Pitt having one last dance on the dance floor, alone.

Vendors:
Clink Events coordinated the wedding
Petal Pushers for the stunning flowers
Creative Creations for the elegant, multi-course plated dinner
Crescent on video
Townsley Designs for the amazing lighting and production
Tony Sansalone cakes--Yum!

Little Miss Sunshine and beauty

My fiance' Jim and I watched Little Miss Sunshine recently and couldn't stop laughing! If you haven't seen this film, it is incredibly touching and funny. It also reminded me of a pageant I photographed in Dallas, and the variety of girls competing for the Miss Young American Miss title in Dallas, Texas. I took this photograph of Rose Medina, just as the girls were going on stage to compete. I'd love your comments!

Cynthia & Mike's Engagement Session this week!

This week has been a blast, with two incredibly fun portrait sessions! (Bridals to be posted next week) Cynthia & Mike are a wonderful couple getting married this June. We did their engagement session on Sunday, and they had been apart all week long. They were so excited to see each other, and I think that really comes through in their pictures. I can't wait to photograph their wedding! I'm posting some of my favorites from the session.

More favorite images!

Incredible photos published on zonezero.com

I am so excited for my dear friend and colleague Winslow Martin, based out of Boston. His sweeping images of Armenia, a body of work that he has been developing and committed to for years, have been selected and published on one of American Photo Magazine's top 10 photo websites: http://zonezero.com

Anyone who is interetsed in photography and/or humanity HAS to see this work. It is so beautiful, moving and intelligently made, and in a culture and land that we, as Americans, rarely hear about.

On my way back!

Well, I got stuck in Chicago again, and won't be able to come back to Austin until late tonight, but I had a GREAT trip! Lots of snow and togetherness.

I also met with some FANTASTIC new clients, Kiley & John, who are getting married next November in Muscatine, Iowa. I can't wait to photograph their wedding!

Off to explore the city.

Bye for now!

JLW is launched!

Hi Everyone! I'm writing this post to announce that Jennifer Lindberg Weddings is officially launched! I am extremely excited about working with my new clients and staying in touch with all of my former Kennedy Lindberg clients. I'll be posting images from recent weddings and will keep you updated on the latest, including our expansion into the Midwest--primarily serving Iowa and Chicago.

The image included in this post was taken by Anne Butler, at a wedding we shot together this summer at Laguna Gloria; I just love her work! I selected it because the anticipation she caught in this photo matches how I am feeling with all of the new changes.

A BIG thank you goes out to all of my couples, wedding vendor friends, colleagues, family and to Bill Kennedy & Melissa Miller. Gina Wilson (of Clink) gave invaluable input, and a portrait I made at her wedding is now our website home page! Anne Butler helped to edit and make literally everything come together. Suzi & Roy Sosa inspired and motivated me with their friendship and visionary entrepreneurial consulting. Trina Bentley, at Emblem, designed my new website at lightning speed, and with an eye and talent that I deeply admire. My fiance', Jim, is the best. There are too many too be named! None of this would be possible without all of your support!

THANK YOU!
